Painted Pumpkins

This is a fun project you can complete in one day and is fun for little hands to help with.
First, find some plastic pumpkins or gourds. Look for the ugly ones that no one wants... doesn't matter what color they are, you will paint over them. We found the small gourds at Michaels for $2.99 for a bag of 7!!!

1. Clean the surface well.
2. Paint the pumpkins your base color. You can use spray paint, acrylic paint, use what you have.
3. Mix a tablespoon of Mod Podge with 4 tablespoons of paint (use more Mod Podge if you want more of a translucent look). The paint will have a "white" tint to it, but will dry clear once it's on the pumpkin.
4. Add layers and layers of different colors of paint on your surface. Use darker colors and lighter colors to give your piece dimension and depth.
5. If you don't want the paint to mix with the color underneath, let the paint dry before adding an additional color.
6. Use metallic paint or nail polish to paint the stems.
7. Once you're happy with the coloring, do a final coat of Mod Podge over the entire pumpkin.
